Motiongate Dubai: Ride-by-Ride Height Chart

Every figure below was verified against Motiongate Dubai's own official attraction pages on 21 August 2026.

Motiongate Dubai does not run on one height rule. It runs on eight different minimum heights across 27 attractions in five studio zones, plus a second set of numbers most parents never see until they reach the gate: the height at which a child stops needing an adult in the seat beside them.

That second number matters more than families expect. A child of 1.00 m can board Dragon Gliders, Panem Aerial Tour and Smurf Village Express — but on all three, an adult has to ride too. At 1.22 m the same child rides them alone. Ten attractions use exactly that line, so a few centimetres change how many adults your group needs, not just which rides your child can do.

Age will not tell you any of this. Motiongate publishes no age limit on any attraction; every ride rule the park states is a height rule, with one park-wide supervision rule on top.

What follows is every current attraction, zone by zone, with its minimum height, its companion rule and the physical requirement that quietly rules out more small children than the numbers do. Each figure was read twice from the attraction’s own official page, so nothing is rounded or carried over from an older chart. Short Answers First

Motiongate’s thresholds are not evenly spaced, and the gaps between them are where family plans succeed or fail. The table below turns the eight published minimums into the only thing a parent actually needs before booking: how much of the park opens at your child’s current height.

Two attractions are excluded from the counts above because Motiongate publishes no rule for them: The Fountain of Dreams, a walk-past water feature at the DreamWorks entrance, and Smurfs Studio Tour, which is covered later in this chart.

Read your child’s row before you buy anything. A family whose youngest sits in the first two bands is buying a very different day from one whose children are all past 1.05 m, and that difference should shape the whole trip rather than just the park morning — which is the practical argument for building the visit into Dubai family holiday packages instead of treating it as a standalone ticket.

How to Read Motiongate’s Height Rules

Every attraction page at Motiongate states its restriction in the same shape, and it usually contains two numbers rather than one.

The first is the minimum. Ghostbusters: Battle for New York reads “92 cm or taller”, and that is an absolute floor — a child of 0.91 m does not ride, with or without a parent.

The second is the companion ceiling. The same entry continues: “Children between 92cm and 122cm must be accompanied by a supervising companion.” That is not a second restriction on the child; it is a restriction on the group. Between those two figures the child may ride, but somebody has to ride with them.

• Ten attractions use 1.22 m as their companion ceiling — the single most consequential number in the park, and the one the independence table further down lists ride by ride.
• Three attractions push that ceiling to 1.30 m: The Green Hornet: High Speed Chase, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs: River Expedition and The Swinging Viking.
• Five attractions state a minimum with no companion clause at all: Now You See Me: High Roller, John Wick: Open Contract, Madagascar Mad Pursuit, Zombieland Blast-Off and Capitol Bullet Train.
• Six attractions require a companion but state no height, so a child of any height may enter with an adult: Underworld 4D, Flint’s Imagination Lab, Camp Viking, Smurfberry Factory, Woodland Play Park and Hollywood Theatre.
• Melman-Go-Round belongs in a category of its own: it states a 0.95 m minimum and a companion requirement, but never a height at which that requirement ends.

Put those last two together and you get the list that matters to a group with only one adult: seven attractions ask for a companion at every height — the six above plus Melman-Go-Round. No amount of growing removes an adult from those queues.

Two of the park’s figures look oddly precise until you convert them. 0.92 m is 36.2 in and 1.22 m is 48.0 in — three feet and four feet, restated in metric. That is why the chart has a 0.92 m step rather than a rounder 0.90 m one, and why so many companion clauses stop at 1.22 m.

Motiongate states no maximum height on any attraction, and none appears in the park’s accessibility material either. Tall adults are not excluded by a published upper limit, although a ride operator can still refuse a rider who cannot be secured by the restraint. If you are comparing this with other parks before you book, what Legoland Dubai asks for at each ride entrance is built on a very different set of thresholds, and a shorter child often does better there.

Ride-by-Ride Height Chart by Zone

What matters here: each zone’s floor and ceiling, and the fact that they do not line up.

Motiongate Dubai is organised into five studio zones: Columbia Pictures, Lionsgate, DreamWorks Animation, Smurfs Village and Studio Central. The zones are useful for walking the park but useless for predicting restrictions — Columbia Pictures holds both the lowest minimum in the park and one of the two highest. Each zone is charted separately below, then repeated in a single master table.

Columbia Pictures Zone

Columbia Pictures is the widest zone in the park for height range. It contains seven attractions, and they run from no minimum at all to 1.30 m — the full spread of the park inside one themed street. Parents who assume a zone is either “for the little ones” or “for the big ones” will misjudge this one badly.

What This Means for Families

Columbia Pictures is the zone where the smallest children get their first proper rides. 0.90 m opens Hotel Transylvania and 0.92 m opens Ghostbusters, and both are slow, seated, indoor rides with a lap restraint — the gentlest introduction the park offers to a child who has never been on anything with a safety bar.

The next step in this zone is a big one. Nothing new opens between 0.92 m and 1.05 m, so a child at 1.00 m gains nothing here even though they have crossed a metre. At 1.05 m two attractions arrive at once: The Green Hornet and the River Expedition. Both keep their companion requirement all the way to 1.30 m, which is unusual — most of the park releases the child at 1.22 m. In practice that means a 1.25 m child who rides Dragon Gliders alone still needs an adult on the River Expedition.

Zombieland Blast-Off is the outlier. At 1.30 m it is the joint-tallest requirement in the park, it uses an over-the-shoulder restraint, and it drops riders 58 metres. No companion clause is published because there is no band below the minimum — a child either clears 1.30 m or does not ride.

Two attractions in this zone need no height at all. Underworld 4D admits any height with an adult, but the park’s own accessibility material describes its sound effects as unexpected and frightening, and 3D glasses have to stay on — worth weighing for a nervous four-year-old even though nothing stops them entering. Flint’s Imagination Lab is soft play with slides and is one of only two attractions in the park a very small child can genuinely use. Smurfs Village Zone

Motiongate describes Smurfs Village as five immersive attractions. Four of them appear on the park’s own attraction index, and the fifth — Smurfs Studio Tour — has a live page on the Dubai Parks and Resorts site but is missing from that index, and its page carries no height information at all. It is listed in the park’s Accessibility and Sensory Guide with a height box, which means a restriction exists even though the ride index does not show it.

What Parents Should Know

Smurfs Village looks like the toddler zone and is often described that way, but the numbers do not support it. Its one ride, Smurf Village Express, starts at 1.00 m — a higher entry point than four Columbia Pictures attractions and three DreamWorks rides. A child of 0.95 m can ride a carousel elsewhere in the park and cannot board the Smurfs train.

What the zone does offer smaller children is unrestricted play. Smurfberry Factory and Woodland Play Park both publish no minimum height, so a two-year-old can use them with an adult present. That is a real advantage, but it is play rather than riding, and the two are very different experiences: Smurfberry Factory is indoors with air guns the park describes as sometimes unexpected and loud, while Woodland Play Park is an open-air climbing area. Between May and September, an outdoor obstacle course in Dubai is a short visit whatever the height rules say, which is one reason the months that suit an outdoor theme-park day are worth checking before you fix travel dates.

Smurfs Studio Tour needs its own decision. Because its restriction is not published where families look for it, treat it as unconfirmed until you see the sign at the entrance, and do not build a plan around a child riding it. One more thing about this zone: the companion requirement on Smurf Village Express runs to 1.22 m, so on the ride that is most obviously aimed at small children, an adult is in the cart until the child is nearly four feet tall. If you are travelling with only one adult and two young children, that single line will shape your morning more than any coaster.

DreamWorks Animation Zone

DreamWorks is the largest zone in the park — eleven attractions, split across four indoor lands themed to Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Madagascar and Shrek. Its attractions run from no minimum height to 1.25 m, and its four lands do not share a standard. Two attractions sitting metres apart in the same land can differ by 30 cm.

Best Options by Child Height

At 0.90 m, DreamWorks gives a child Mr. Ping’s Noodle Fling, and it is worth understanding what that ride actually asks of them. The park’s own participant notes say there is no restraint: riders sit in a bowl-shaped booth and hold a handle while the cabin spins on its own axis. A 0.90 m child physically fits, but they have to hold on, which is a different question from whether they are tall enough.

At 0.92 m, Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey opens — a slow indoor ride with a light waist restraint and animatronic scenes, and the closest thing DreamWorks has to a first ride.

At 0.95 m, Melman-Go-Round opens, and it is the one attraction in the park whose companion rule has no upper limit. The published wording is simply that a child must be accompanied by a supervising companion, with no height at which that stops applying. Read literally, an adult rides the carousel however tall the child is.

At 1.00 m, Dragon Gliders opens. It is a suspended coaster where legs hang free and the track passes through a dark section at height, which makes it a bigger step than the modest 1.00 m figure suggests.

At 1.05 m, three more open together: Kung Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomeness, Penguin Air and Swamp Celebration. Penguin Air deserves a second look, because riders pedal to make the vehicle climb — a child who clears 1.05 m but cannot reach or push the pedals will still be carried around at the bottom.

At 1.20 m, The Swinging Viking opens, with a companion still required up to 1.30 m. At 1.25 m, Madagascar Mad Pursuit opens and needs no companion at all, which makes it the first genuinely independent thrill ride in this zone.

The four lands behave very differently, and the park’s own ride descriptions make it clear which attraction sits where. Grouped that way, the pattern is useful:

A child of 1.10 m illustrates the point. In How to Train Your Dragon they have Camp Viking and Dragon Gliders and nothing else, because The Swinging Viking is still 10 cm away. In Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda the same child clears everything except Mad Pursuit. Walking DreamWorks land by land will therefore feel like a series of dead ends; walking it from the height-sorted table below will not. Five of the zone’s ten rule-carrying attractions are open at 1.00 m, and eight at 1.05 m.

Camp Viking is the outlier at the other end: no height, adult required, and children get soaked. Bring a change of clothes, and if you are also planning beach time, a free beach afternoon in Dubai is an easier way to give a small child water play than a park day built around one splash area.

Lionsgate Zone

Lionsgate is the zone to check most carefully, because the franchises behind it — The Hunger Games, Now You See Me and John Wick — are adult properties, and three of its four attractions carry the tallest requirements in the park outside the Zombieland drop tower. Familiarity with the films is not a guide to whether a child can ride; two of these attractions are closed to a child of 1.19 m.

Panem Aerial Tour is the exception that saves this zone for families. At 1.00 m with a companion, it is one of the three lowest thresholds outside Columbia Pictures, and it is a seated motion simulator rather than a coaster — so a child who is tall enough but nervous can still be talked into it. It is the only Lionsgate attraction a child under 1.20 m can use.

Above that, the zone hardens quickly. Now You See Me: High Roller at 1.20 m is a spin coaster where the car rotates while the track climbs and drops. John Wick: Open Contract at 1.25 m puts riders in an over-the-shoulder restraint and inverts them. Capitol Bullet Train at 1.30 m is a half-pipe coaster that runs the track in both directions. None of the three publishes a companion clause, which is the park’s way of saying there is no accompanied-rider concession: the child either meets the number alone or waits.

That has a practical consequence for a family with one child at 1.22 m and another at 1.31 m. In Lionsgate, the taller child rides three attractions the younger one cannot, and no amount of adult supervision changes it. Plan a swap point rather than a queue, and keep the shorter child’s alternative — Panem Aerial Tour — for that window. Splitting a group like this is easier when the day is not also the day you are travelling, which is one reason where a theme-park day fits in a five-night Dubai plan is worth settling before you book tickets.

Studio Central and Other Attractions

Studio Central is the entrance zone, themed to a New York back lot, and it holds the park’s live show venue rather than rides.

Hollywood Theatre is worth knowing about precisely because it has no height rule. For a family whose youngest child is under 0.90 m, it is one of a handful of things everyone can do together, and the park’s accessibility material lists the space behind the theatre as one of its designated low-sensory areas — useful if a child needs to step out of the noise for a while.

Note the wording difference here. Hollywood Theatre says children must be accompanied by an adult, while nearly every ride in the park says a supervising companion. Motiongate does not define the second term anywhere in its published material. The park’s terms and conditions do define the first: “Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18 and holding a valid ticket.” Until the park says otherwise, treat every “supervising companion” as needing to be an 18-plus ticket holder — assuming a 15-year-old sibling can chaperone a small child onto a ride is the assumption most likely to fail at the gate. Every figure comes from that attraction’s own official page. Print it, screenshot it, or keep it open on a phone at the gate — it is faster than opening 27 pages, and it is the part of this chart that survives a day with no signal.

Minimums decide what a child may ride. This third view decides how the adults in your group spend the day — it is the number no other Motiongate chart publishes, and the one that determines whether a parent is riding or watching.

Read the last column. On Hotel Transylvania an adult rides for 32 cm of a child’s growth; on The Swinging Viking, only 10 cm. Melman-Go-Round is the exception in both directions: it publishes a minimum but never names a height at which the companion requirement ends, so as written an adult rides the carousel with a child of any height.

The five attractions missing from this table — Now You See Me: High Roller, John Wick: Open Contract, Madagascar Mad Pursuit, Zombieland Blast-Off and Capitol Bullet Train — publish no companion band at all. A child who clears their minimum rides alone from the first centimetre.

Rides for Smaller Children

“Kids’ rides” is the wrong frame at Motiongate, because the park’s gentlest experiences and its lowest height numbers are not the same list. Smurfberry Factory has no height rule and is a loud indoor play zone. Underworld 4D has no height rule and is a vampire battle with sudden, frightening sound effects. Meanwhile Smurf Village Express, which looks like the obvious toddler ride, needs a full metre.

The table below sorts attractions strictly by what a child of a given height can actually enter.

A family whose youngest is below 0.90 m should be clear-eyed about the arithmetic: six attractions, four of which are play spaces. That is a short day for the price of a full ticket, and it is worth weighing against alternatives where the child’s height decides less of the visit — the aquarium, ice rink and play zones at Dubai Mall is one such afternoon, and Dubai Miracle Garden’s flower displays is another in the cooler months, though both set their own conditions on individual activities and should be checked in their own right. If the park still makes the list, a stroller becomes essential rather than optional, and taking a stroller through Dubai’s attractions covers where they can and cannot go.

Three further swaps suit this age well. Atlantis and the Palm Jumeirah monorail puts water, a short train ride and a beach within one stop. The viewing deck at Dubai Frame is a short, seated, indoor visit that works even in August. And the Gold Souk and abra crossing in Deira fills a cooler evening that costs almost nothing.

What If Two Children Have Different Heights?

This is the most common planning problem at Motiongate, because the park’s thresholds cluster in a way that splits siblings sharply. Take a realistic pair: one child at 1.10 m and one at 1.30 m.

Child A at 1.10 m

Nineteen of the 25 attractions with a published rule are open, including the water ride, the coasters at 1.00 m and 1.05 m, both 4D simulators and every play area. An adult is required on all nineteen: ten because 1.10 m sits below their 1.22 m companion ceiling, two more — The Green Hornet and the River Expedition — because theirs runs to 1.30 m, Melman-Go-Round because its clause names no ceiling at all, and the six attractions with no height rule because they ask for an adult regardless.

Child B at 1.30 m

All 25 are open and every height-based companion band has been cleared, though the play areas, the theatre, the 4D show and Melman-Go-Round still ask for an adult. The six attractions Child A cannot use are Now You See Me: High Roller, The Swinging Viking, John Wick: Open Contract, Madagascar Mad Pursuit, Zombieland Blast-Off and Capitol Bullet Train.

Planning Around the Gap

The good news is that the overlap is large. Both children can do Ghostbusters, Hotel Transylvania, Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey, Dragon Gliders, Penguin Air, Kung Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomeness, Swamp Celebration, Panem Aerial Tour, The Green Hornet, the River Expedition, Smurf Village Express, Melman-Go-Round and Mr. Ping’s Noodle Fling together — thirteen rides across four zones, and the play areas, the theatre show and Underworld 4D are shared as well.

Do those together first, in one loop, and save the six exclusions for a single split window. Lionsgate is where the split bites hardest: three of its four attractions are closed to Child A, so send the taller child there with one adult while the other adult takes the younger one to Panem Aerial Tour in the same zone. Trying to alternate ride by ride across the whole day produces more walking and more disappointment than one clean swap.

What If a Child Is Exactly at the Height Limit?

A child measured at home at exactly 1.05 m is not guaranteed to measure 1.05 m at the ride entrance, and the park’s measurement is the one that counts.

Motiongate’s terms and conditions put the decision with the operator in plain terms: “Access to a ride is conditional on compliance with the safety rules for that ride”, and the park “reserve[s] the right to deny admission to any of our rides if we have reasonable belief that you cannot comply with the safety rules for the ride.” There is no published tolerance, no appeal, and no stated allowance for being a centimetre short.

Practical points for a borderline child:

• Measure at the end of the day, not the morning — people are measurably shorter after several hours upright, and a park visit is a long day on the feet.
• Do not count on shoes. Some operators measure with footwear on and some do not, and Motiongate does not publish which applies.
• Do not count on hair. A raised hairstyle is not height — expect the measurement to be taken flat to the top of the head.
• If the child is within a centimetre or two of a threshold, plan the day as though they will not clear it, and treat clearing it as a bonus.

If your child sits close to a threshold, ask at Guest Services when you enter whether they can measure and confirm before you start queueing. Finding out at the front of a queue, in front of a child who has waited forty minutes, is the version of this that ruins an afternoon. It also settles the question before you spend money on a Q-Fast pass, which shortens a queue but changes no restriction.

One more borderline case is worth naming. A child who is above the minimum but below the companion ceiling is not a borderline case at all — they can ride, provided an adult rides too. The disappointment there comes from the group, not the measurement: a single adult with two children under 1.22 m cannot ride both of them at once on any of the ten attractions that use that ceiling.

Height Requirement Does Not Guarantee Ride Access

What matters here: the second line of every restriction, which decides more cases than the first.

Meeting the number is the first check, not the last one. Motiongate publishes at least one more condition on almost every attraction, and on 21 of the 27 it is the same sentence: the rider “must be able to transfer to the ride vehicle seating with assistance.”

That is a physical requirement about the child, not about the queue. A child who cannot sit unaided, cannot hold a position in a seat, or cannot be moved into the vehicle with help does not become eligible by growing another centimetre.

It is worth naming what Motiongate does not publish here. There is no park-wide statement that a rider must be able to sit upright unaided, and no rule about infants being held in an adult’s arms — some other Dubai parks publish both. The transfer requirement is the closest thing Motiongate states, and it appears per attraction rather than park-wide. Parents of babies and of children with limited trunk control should therefore ask at the ride entrance rather than assume the absence of a rule means permission.

The other conditions that can decide a ride, all drawn from the park’s own material:

• Restraint type: Zombieland Blast-Off and John Wick use over-the-shoulder restraints, which need a torso the harness can close on.
• No restraint at all: on Mr. Ping’s Noodle Fling the rider holds a handle in a spinning bowl, so grip and balance replace the safety bar.
• Active participation: Penguin Air only climbs if the rider pedals, and Ghostbusters expects the rider to aim a laser gun.
• 3D glasses must be worn on Underworld 4D, Kung Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomeness and Panem Aerial Tour, which some children will not tolerate.
• Medical conditions: the park states some rides may be unsafe for expectant mothers and people with medical, physical or mental limitations, and asks guests to speak to the ride attendant.
• Photosensitivity: the park warns that certain rides use flashing or strobing light and that guests with a history of photosensitive epilepsy should avoid them.
• Loose articles are not permitted on rides and attractions, and scarves or shawls should not be worn while riding.

Motiongate publishes provisions for guests who need them, and they are worth knowing before you arrive rather than after. Wheelchairs and strollers are available to rent at the Guest Services counter. Sensory kits are held at the First Aid clinic near the park entrance. The park lists two low-sensory areas — a space behind the theatre in Studio Central, and the cluster of Baby Care Unit, First Aid Room and VIP Lounge near the entrance — and the VIP lounge doubles as its quiet room. The park is also certified by IBCCES as a Certified Autism Center, with staff trained to assist sensory-sensitive guests. None of that changes a height rule, but it changes how long a child who meets the rules can stay in the park.

If anyone in the group travels with prescription medication, check it before you fly rather than at the park, because which medicines the UAE restricts is a customs question that has nothing to do with theme parks and everything to do with whether the medication reaches Dubai at all.

Planning Your Day Around Your Child’s Height

Who this is for: families deciding whether a Motiongate ticket is worth buying at their child’s current height.

The thresholds below are the ones Motiongate actually uses. Each describes what a family should realistically expect, not what a ride list looks like on paper.

Children Below 0.90 m

Six attractions, four of them play areas, and an adult on every one. A full-price day is hard to justify unless an older sibling is the reason you are going, and trimming the cost of a Dubai trip is worth reading first if the ticket is the largest single line in your day. If you do go, plan around Flint’s Imagination Lab and Camp Viking in the cooler part of the day, use the Hollywood Theatre show as the group activity, and expect the child to spend real time in a stroller. An evening at Global Village’s winter season rides and shows will usually give a child this size more to do than a Motiongate ticket will, at a fraction of the price. At this age the transfers, the nap window and the hotel matter more than the ride count, so build the day around them rather than around the park map.

Children at 0.90 m to 0.99 m

The first seated rides arrive: Hotel Transylvania, Mr. Ping’s Noodle Fling, Ghostbusters, Shrek’s Merry Fairy Tale Journey and Melman-Go-Round. Eleven attractions in total, an adult riding alongside on all of them, and every one of them slow. This is the band where a park visit becomes worthwhile but still needs two adults if you also have an older child.

Children at 1.00 m to 1.04 m

Three more open — Smurf Village Express, Dragon Gliders and Panem Aerial Tour — bringing the total to fourteen. Dragon Gliders and Panem Aerial Tour are the first attractions with real motion, so this is where a cautious child may stop before the height chart does.

Children at 1.05 m to 1.19 m

Nineteen of 25. The Green Hornet, the River Expedition, Kung Fu Panda Unstoppable Awesomeness, Penguin Air and Swamp Celebration all open at 1.05 m, and this single step is worth more than any other in the park. A child anywhere in this band can fill a full day without repeating a ride.

Children at 1.20 m to 1.24 m

Twenty-one of 25, with the first two thrill rides — Now You See Me: High Roller and The Swinging Viking — now available. Watch the 1.22 m line inside this band: at 1.22 m the companion requirement falls away on ten attractions, which frees a parent to queue for something else or sit down.

Children at 1.25 m and Above

John Wick: Open Contract and Madagascar Mad Pursuit open at 1.25 m, then Zombieland Blast-Off and Capitol Bullet Train at 1.30 m complete the park. From 1.30 m upward there is no attraction at Motiongate a child cannot ride and no height-based companion band left to clear, which makes this the height at which the ticket delivers its full value. Seven attractions still say a child must be accompanied — the six with no height rule at all, plus Melman-Go-Round, whose clause never names a height at which it stops. Children in this band travel well generally: the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain cluster in Downtown and a desert safari evening with children both suit an older child far better than they suit a toddler.

Once you know which band your children fall into, the rest of the trip shapes itself around it — which Dubai neighbourhood to book for a family stay changes the calculation, because Dubai Parks and Resorts sits well outside the city on the Abu Dhabi road and a long transfer eats the part of the day a smaller child can actually use.

Where Motiongate’s Own Sources Disagree

Motiongate publishes its ride restrictions in two places: each attraction’s page on the Dubai Parks and Resorts website, and a downloadable Accessibility and Sensory Guide. They do not match everywhere, and it is worth knowing that before you rely on a chart copied from either.

The accessibility booklet contains height boxes whose two sentences contradict each other. One reads, verbatim: “95cm or taller. Childern between 90cm and 120cm must be accompanied by a supervising companion.” A minimum of 95 cm cannot sit above a companion band that starts at 90 cm — one of those two numbers is wrong, and the document does not say which. Several boxes in the booklet show the same pattern, with a minimum of 95 cm printed above a band beginning at 90 cm or 92 cm, while the corresponding ride page states the lower figure as the minimum.

This chart therefore takes every figure from the individual attraction pages, for three reasons: they are one ride to a page with no chance of reading a box against the wrong attraction, they are updated as part of the live site rather than a periodically re-issued PDF, and their two sentences are internally consistent.

The booklet remains the better source for everything else. It is where the park publishes what a rider physically does on each attraction — the restraint type, whether 3D glasses are required, whether a ride has no restraint at all — plus its sensory ratings, its low-sensory areas, and its statement that outside food and beverage are not permitted, with exceptions for food required for medical purposes, medically indicated nutritional supplements and baby food or formula. That exception matters to families with an infant, and it is not published on the ride pages at all. For everyone else, meals are bought inside, and Indian and vegetarian food options across Dubai is the better reference for what a family with fussy eaters should expect from a day out.

Common Planning Mistakes

Mistake 1: Checking Age Instead of Height

Why it matters: Motiongate publishes no age limit on any attraction. Every ride rule in the park is a height rule. Ticket prices use age bands, and that is where the confusion starts — a child can be old enough to pay a child fare and still be too short for most of the park.

What to do instead: Measure the child in centimetres and use that number for everything ride-related. Keep age for the ticket conversation only, where what Dubai attractions charge for children explains how the bands work across the emirate.

Mistake 2: Using an Old Height Chart

Why it matters: The park’s own two published sources currently disagree on several figures, and its attraction index does not list every attraction that has a page on the site — Smurfs Studio Tour is missing from it. A chart copied from a third-party page inherits whichever error it was built from and never gets corrected.

What to do instead: Check the individual attraction page for any ride your plan depends on, close to your travel date.

Mistake 3: Assuming All Rides in One Zone Have the Same Requirement

Why it matters: Columbia Pictures runs from no minimum to 1.30 m. DreamWorks runs from no minimum to 1.25 m. Smurfs Village looks like the youngest zone but its only ride needs 1.00 m.

What to do instead: Treat each attraction as its own rule. The master table above is sorted so you can see the spread inside each zone at a glance.

Mistake 4: Assuming the Minimum Height Guarantees Entry

Why it matters: Twenty-one attractions also require the rider to transfer to the seat with assistance, several require the child to hold a position or hold a handle, and three require 3D glasses to stay on.

What to do instead: Read the second line of each restriction, not just the number.

Mistake 5: Looking for a Maximum Height Instead of the Companion Ceiling

Why it matters: Parents who have used a chart from another park often arrive looking for an upper limit. Motiongate publishes none — no attraction, and no line in the park’s accessibility material, states a maximum height. The upper number that actually exists here is the companion ceiling: ten attractions require an adult in the vehicle until the child reaches 1.22 m, and three require one until 1.30 m. A single parent with two children below those ceilings cannot ride both children at once on the same attraction.

What to do instead: Stop looking for a maximum and count instead. Adults in your group against children below 1.22 m — that ratio decides how many days you need far more than any upper limit would. If that count pushes you towards a second adult travelling or an extra night nearby, Dubai hotel occupancy rules for a family of four will tell you whether one room still works.

Mistake 6: Building the Whole Day Around One Ride

Why it matters: The park’s terms state plainly that “Certain rides, attractions, shows or outlets may be unavailable during your visit.” A closed attraction is not a refundable event.

What to do instead: Pick two alternatives at the same height threshold for every ride a child is excited about, so a closure costs you a substitution rather than the day. Build the buffer into the evening too — Motiongate states that all attractions close 30 minutes before the park does, so the last hour is shorter than the ticket suggests.

How to Re-Check Any of This Before You Travel

Restrictions change when rides are refurbished or replaced, so verify anything your plan depends on. Four steps, in order of reliability:

• Open the attraction’s own page on dubaiparksandresorts.com and read the Height Restriction field — this is the figure this chart uses and the one that is maintained live.
• Download the MOTIONGATE Dubai Accessibility and Sensory Guide for the physical requirements — restraint type, 3D glasses, sensory ratings — and treat its height boxes as a cross-check rather than the primary figure.
• Call Guest Services on 800 AMAZING (2629464) inside the UAE or +971 4 820 0000 from abroad to confirm a borderline case or an attraction with no published rule.
• Email [email protected] if you want the answer in writing before you book, which is worth doing when a child sits within two centimetres of a threshold.

Do the paperwork checks in the same sitting, because they have longer lead times than a ride chart does — applying for a Dubai visa on an Indian passport and the documents a child needs for a Dubai visa are the two that decide whether the trip happens at all. Seat availability moves in the same window, so check which Indian cities have non-stop flights to Dubai before you fix the park date rather than after.

Factor the journey in as well. Dubai Parks and Resorts sits on Sheikh Zayed Road near Jebel Ali, and the park has no Metro station of its own: the published public-transport route is the RTA shuttle bus DPR 1 from Ibn Battuta Metro Station, running 07:30 to 23:30 roughly every 75 minutes.
