Indian Dubai packages often include a line such as “Dhow Cruise with Dinner”. That line does not describe a single attraction. It could be any of these:
- A 90-minute sail past Dubai Marina’s towers.
- A two-hour cruise along the old Creek.
- A dhow with a glass-enclosed lower deck on the Water Canal.
- A three-hour megayacht dinner.
Each can come with a different boarding point, food arrangement and children’s price.
This page compares the three waterways using 15 products whose details we read on Oct. 1, 2026:
- Five on Dubai Marina.
- Seven on Dubai Creek.
- Three on the Dubai Water Canal.
Sources were the operators’ own sites, the Visit Dubai experiences shop and the booking platforms that resell them. Where a detail belongs to one product, we name the product. Where products disagree, we say so. Prices change often, so every price here is “from”, as displayed on that date.
The goal is simple. When you read the cruise line in your package, you should know what it tells you and what you still need to ask.
Same four words, two different evenings
Here are two real products, both of which could appear in a package as “Dhow Cruise with Dinner”:
| Tour Dubai, Creek Royal Dinner Cruise | Rayna Tours, Dhow Cruise Dinner, Marina | |
|---|---|---|
| Waterway | Dubai Creek | Dubai Marina |
| Cruise length | “Two-hour cruise along the Creek” | “90-minute cruise on Dubai Marina” |
| Boarding | Al Seef, on the Creek | Disputed: Rayna’s page says Dubai Marina Yacht Club; two resellers say behind Al Rahim Mosque |
| Food | International buffet; a family-style set menu “may be served instead of the buffet” | “Four-star international buffet dinner with vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes” |
| Vegetarian | “Vegetarian, child, and Kosher meals are available upon request and must be requested at the time of booking” | Vegetarian dishes in the buffet |
| Child price | Child (3 to 11) AED 258; infant (0 to 2) AED 0; adult AED 310 (Visit Dubai shop, Oct. 1, 2026) | Not shown on the pages we read |
Both are dinner cruises on a dhow-style boat. They differ in the water, the evening’s length, how vegetarian food is arranged and what a child costs.
What a package line should tell you, at a minimum:
- the waterway;
- the operator or boat;
- the boarding point and reporting time;
- the cruise length;
- buffet or set menu;
- how vegetarian food is provided;
- what children and infants pay;
- whether transfers are shared, private or not included.
Marina, Creek and Canal at a glance
| Dubai Marina | Dubai Creek | Dubai Water Canal | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you see | Modern high-rise waterfront | The older waterfront, abras and the Deira and Bur Dubai banks | The newer canal waterfront; departures we found leave from Dubai Festival City or Jaddaf Waterfront |
| Boats in the products we read | Wooden dhows, a megayacht and a yacht company’s dinner boat | Wooden dhows (one a three-deck floating restaurant) and one glass-enclosed boat that is not a dhow | A two-deck dhow with a glass-enclosed lower deck; a dhow |
| Advertised cruise length | 90 minutes to 3 hours | 90 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes | 2 hours |
| Dinner | Buffet on four of five products; Al Mansour lists courses and live cooking stations | Buffet, set menu or a la carte, by product | Buffet on every product we read |
| Family points | The widest choice of boat size and price | Tour Dubai’s DET-listed product publishes child and infant prices; one Creek listing bars under-5s | An upper deck costs extra on one product |
| Boarding | Several piers around the Marina; check yours | Al Seef (Bur Dubai side) or Baniyas Road (Deira side) | Festival City or Jaddaf |
| Check first | The exact pier | Which bank of the Creek | The departure time, which differs between sellers |
No waterway is better in general. The table shows how they differ.
Dubai Marina: towers, lights and a choice of boats
The setting. A Marina cruise sails among the high-rises of the Marina, and it is mainly an evening of lights and skyline.
What we found:
- Rayna Tours, “Dhow Cruise Dinner, Marina”: a “traditional wooden dhow” on a “90-minute cruise”. Seating is on the “air-conditioned lower deck or the partly open upper deck”. The buffet includes “vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes”. Entertainment is a Tanura show with background music. Hotel transfers are an option. Rayna’s page and two resellers give different boarding points and different times (about 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Rayna’s page; 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Headout), so confirm both on your voucher.
- Dutch Oriental, Al Mansour traditional dinner cruise: a dhow from Pier 7 by Marina Mall, cruising 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. after boarding at 8 p.m. From AED 99 for an adult and AED 89 for a child aged 3 to 10.
- Dutch Oriental, Lotus Royale megayacht: boarding at 6:45 p.m. at Pier 7 and sailing at 7:30 p.m. “sharp” for three hours. From AED 299 for an adult and AED 249 for a child aged 3 to 10; under-3s are free. The operator’s page does not mention transfers; Platinumlist and Headout list them as excluded, and some reseller packages include them.
- Xclusive Yachts, dinner cruise: boards behind Al Majara Tower, with a 5 p.m. sunset sailing and an 8:30 p.m. dinner sailing. “Infants and children below 3 are free.” “We do not offer transfers.”
For families. The Marina has the widest spread, from a 90-minute dhow to a three-hour megayacht. A three-hour sailing that docks around 10:30 p.m. is a long evening for a 5-year-old. None of the Marina products we read mentions Jain food. Of the four above, only Rayna’s says vegetarian food is part of the buffet.
Dubai Creek: the old waterfront
The setting. The Creek runs between Deira and Bur Dubai, past the abras and the old trading waterfront. If you want the older city, this is the cruise. The Gold and Spice souk lanes on the same waterfront make an easy afternoon before an evening sailing.
What we found:
- Tour Dubai, “Creek Royal Dinner Cruise with Transfers”: listed on DET’s Visit Dubai experiences shop. A two-hour cruise boarding at Al Seef, with an international buffet or, the listing says, a family-style set menu instead. Vegetarian, child and kosher meals are available on request “at the time of booking”. From AED 310 for an adult and AED 258 for a child aged 3 to 11; infants aged 0 to 2 are free. The listing says the cruise “is weather-dependent and subject to Coastguard and National Guard approvals.”
- Rayna Tours, “Dhow Cruise Dinner, Creek”: boarding between 7:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Al Seef Street on the Bur Dubai bank, for about 90 minutes. The buffet has “a choice of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes”, with an air-conditioned lower deck or a partly open upper deck. The page shows no child or infant prices.
- Rustar dhow: a three-deck floating restaurant boarding at 90 Baniyas Road on the Deira side, at 8:30 p.m. for a 9 p.m. sailing. Platinumlist says “children below 3 years old can join for free”. (DET’s own profile describes Rustar as operating “off the coast of Dubai”, so confirm the route.)
- Bateaux Dubai: a “glass-enclosed” boat, not a dhow, with an a la carte dinner. Its Headout listing says “children below 5 years of age are not permitted”. The listing was out of stock on Oct. 1, 2026, so check that it is sailing.
For families. On the Creek, Tour Dubai’s DET-listed product publishes child and infant prices, and it is the only product we read that says vegetarian meals must be requested at booking. Check which bank you board from: Al Seef is on the Bur Dubai side and Baniyas Road on the Deira side.
Dubai Water Canal: a newer route, a different boat
The setting. The Water Canal is a newer waterway, and the products we found board at two places: Dubai Festival City, behind the InterContinental by the IMAGINE show, and Jaddaf Waterfront near Palazzo Versace. Canal cruises are not a renamed Marina or Creek trip, and the boats differ.
What we found:
- Al Faris/Amazon Tours, “Luxury Dubai Canal Cruise”, sold on several platforms: a two-deck dhow with a “glass-enclosed” lower deck and an open-air upper deck. Two platforms list an upper-deck charge of AED 50 per person, paid on site. The cruise lasts two hours (Arabian Adventures’ header says 2.5 hours), with an international buffet. Arabian Adventures lists it at AED 240 for an adult, AED 200 for a child aged 3 to 10 and AED 0 for an infant aged 0 to 2, with transfers. Sellers disagree on whether it leaves at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.
- Hello Tours, “Water Canal Dhow Cruise Dinner”, on Magpie: boards at Jaddaf Waterfront, with sailings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. “Infants must sit on laps.” The listing does not mention transfers.
- Rayna Tours, “Luxury Dubai Canal Cruise”: a “glass-enclosed boat” from Festival City, reporting at 6:15 p.m. for 7 p.m. This is probably the same vessel as the first, but we could not confirm that.
For families. An earlier sailing (6 p.m. at Jaddaf, or 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Festival City) is easier for young children than a 9 p.m. start such as Rustar’s on the Creek. None of the Canal products we read mentions vegetarian or Jain food. Ask.
How long the evening really is
| Product | Waterway | Advertised cruise | Dinner | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rayna, Dhow Cruise Dinner | Marina | 90 minutes | Buffet | Report 30 minutes before |
| Dutch Oriental, Al Mansour | Marina | 90 minutes | Canapés, mains and live cooking stations | Board 8 p.m. |
| Dutch Oriental, Lotus Royale | Marina | 3 hours | Buffet | Board 6:45 p.m. |
| Xclusive Yachts | Marina | 90 minutes | Buffet | 5 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. |
| Tour Dubai, Creek Royal | Creek | 2 hours | Buffet or set menu | Al Seef |
| Rayna, Dhow Cruise Dinner | Creek | About 90 minutes | Buffet | Board 7:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. |
| Rustar | Creek | 2 hours | Buffet | Board 8:30 p.m. |
| Bateaux Dubai | Creek | 2 hours 30 minutes | A la carte | No under-5s; listing out of stock |
| Al Faris/Amazon Tours | Canal | 2 hours | Buffet | 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. |
| Hello Tours | Canal | 2 hours | Buffet | 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. |
The cruise is not the whole evening. Add the reporting time: Rayna asks for 30 minutes and Rustar “at least 30 minutes”. Add boarding, and the shared hotel pickup if you take one. Musement lists Rayna’s Marina pickup at 7 p.m. and drop-off at 10:30 p.m., so a “90-minute cruise” can mean three and a half hours out of the hotel. For a toddler, that is the number to plan around.
Food: what “veg and non-veg buffet” does and does not tell you
Vegetarian. We found three different arrangements:
- Vegetarian dishes inside a mixed buffet: Rayna’s Marina and Creek products. Rustar’s Platinumlist listing also says its dinner has “vegetarian and non-vegetarian options”.
- A vegetarian meal that must be “requested at the time of booking”: Tour Dubai.
- No vegetarian wording at all: Lotus, Al Mansour and Xclusive on the Marina; Bateaux and Gray Line’s evening cruise (on Musement) on the Creek; every Canal product.
“Vegetarian available” can therefore mean a few dishes on a shared buffet or a meal you have to order in advance. Ask which, and whether it needs to be booked.
Jain. None of the 15 products mentions Jain food. Vegetarian is not the same as Jain, and a buffet will not tell you how the dishes were cooked. If you need Jain food:
- Ask the operator, through your package seller, before you pay.
- Get the answer in writing.
- Accept that the honest answer may be no.
Some Jain families eat before boarding, at one of the Dubai kitchens that can serve a true Jain meal, and treat the cruise as an outing.
Indian food. The menus we read are described as “international”, “local and international” or “continental, Arabic and Asian”. An international buffet is not necessarily an Indian one. If your family eats only Indian food, ask for the menu.
Children. Tour Dubai offers “child” meals on request. The other products say nothing specific. Bring something familiar for a fussy eater, and if you have a baby, check the infant points below.
Children and infants: who pays what
Every operator sets its own age bands. Prices are “from”, as displayed on Oct. 1, 2026. They change, and a package may not show you the cruise’s own child price at all. Tour Dubai’s and Al Faris’s prices below include transfers; Xclusive and Rustar exclude them, and the others do not say.
| Product | Adult | Child | Infant |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tour Dubai, Creek (Visit Dubai shop) | 12+, AED 310 | 3 to 11, AED 258 | 0 to 2, AED 0 |
| Lotus Royale, Marina (operator) | AED 299 | 3 to 10, AED 249 | Under 3, free |
| Al Mansour, Marina (operator) | AED 99 | 3 to 10, AED 89 | Not stated |
| Xclusive Yachts, Marina (operator) | Two different figures on its own page; ask | AED 160, age band not stated | “Infants and children below 3 are free” |
| Al Faris, Canal (Arabian Adventures, with transfers) | AED 240 | 3 to 10, AED 200 | 0 to 2, AED 0 |
| Rustar, Creek (Platinumlist) | Deal prices vary | 3+ pays | Under 3, free |
| Bateaux Dubai, Creek (listing out of stock) | Not shown | Under-5s not permitted | Not permitted |
The pattern: under-3s are free on most of these, children up to 10 or 11 pay a lower child rate, and one Creek listing bars under-5s. Rayna’s child and infant prices did not show on the pages we read. Ask for them.
In a package, the cruise is folded into the package price, and none of the package pages we read showed a separate child or infant price for it. Ask the seller whether your child’s place on the cruise is included and in which band. For an infant, ask whether they can board and where they will sit; one Canal product says “Infants must sit on laps”. Free entry, prams and naps for under-threes covers the rest of the trip.
Life jackets and safety: what is and is not published
None of the 15 product pages we read mentions life jackets, children’s life jackets or a safety briefing. That does not mean the boats carry none. It means none of these pages publishes the arrangement.
On the official side, the Dubai Maritime Authority issued a statement on Feb. 13, 2026, which we read as reprinted by Hellenic Shipping News. It called on operators not to use unlicensed or expired craft, and it cited a circular requiring companies that provide recreational maritime activity services to display their permit, which carries key safety guidelines. It did not say whether dinner cruises count as such services.
Its life-jacket wording was about water sports, not dinner cruises. Tour Dubai’s listing also says sailings are “subject to Coastguard and National Guard approvals”.
Ask the operator, through your package seller if necessary:
- Are life jackets on board in a size for my child’s age and weight?
- Where are they stored, and will the crew show us?
- Is there a safety briefing?
- Can an infant board, and where can a child sit away from the rail?
Ask before the evening, not at the gangway.
What is usually included
| Inclusion | Marina | Creek | Canal | Ask? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dinner | Yes, on every product we read | Yes | Yes | Which format |
| Buffet | Most; Al Mansour lists courses and live stations | Most; one set-menu option; one a la carte | Every product we read | Yes |
| Vegetarian | Stated by Rayna only | Rayna in the buffet; Rustar’s dinner (Platinumlist); Tour Dubai on request | Not stated | Yes |
| Jain | Not stated anywhere | Not stated anywhere | Not stated anywhere | Yes, in writing |
| Water and soft drinks | Varies by product and seller | Varies | Water on all three; soft drinks on two | Yes |
| Tea and coffee | Varies | Varies | Stated on two of three | Yes |
| Alcohol | Upgrade or extra cost where offered | Excluded, an upgrade or extra cost; one listing includes a glass of wine | Extra cost or 21+ option | Only if it matters |
| Entertainment | Tanura, music, DJs, by product | Tanura, music, puppet shows, by product | Live saxophone, Tanura | No |
| Transfers | Optional or excluded | Included on Tour Dubai’s transfer product and Gray Line; optional on Rayna; excluded on Rustar | Included, optional or not mentioned, by seller | Yes |
| Child ticket | By operator | By operator | By operator | Yes |
| Infant policy | By operator | By operator; one listing bars under-5s | By operator | Yes |
| Life jackets | Not published | Not published | Not published | Yes |
Rayna’s Marina page also says that on “dry days” entertainment is paused and alcohol is not served, so ask whether your date is one. For the holy month itself, see Ramadan evenings, entertainment and opening hours.
What an Indian package’s cruise line usually tells you
We read 17 package listings from Indian sellers, seven of them our own, including the Dubai family holidays from Delhi and Mumbai-to-Dubai family holidays pages. The cruise lines read like this:
- “Marina Dhow Cruise with Buffet Dinner (SIC basis)”
- “Evening Marina Dhow Cruise with Buffet Dinner”
- “Dhow Cruise Creek with Dinner SIC”
- “Dubai Creek or Marina”
- “Dhow Dinner Cruise”
Most name the waterway. Some leave it open. One seller’s inclusions said Marina while its day-by-day plan said Creek.
None of the pages named the operator or boat, the boarding point, the vegetarian or Jain arrangement, drinks, the child or infant price for the cruise, seating, or what happens if you skip the cruise. “SIC” is generally read as “seat in coach”, a shared vehicle, but none of the pages we read defined it.
This is not a criticism of package sellers: a one-line inclusion cannot carry all of that. It does mean the details you need are not in the line. Ask for them.
Keeping the package cruise, or comparing another
The included cruise may be all you need if:
- you want dinner on the water and have no strong preference about the waterway;
- the seller confirms the food your family needs;
- your children are covered in the package price;
- transfers are included and the timings suit you;
- nobody needs special meals, seating or access.
It is worth comparing another if:
- the package does not name the waterway, and you care which one;
- you need Jain food;
- the child or infant policy is unclear;
- nobody can tell you whether a life jacket in your child’s size is on board;
- the cruise is too long or too late for your children;
- you want a particular boat, such as a glass-enclosed one or a shorter sailing;
- the boarding point is far from your hotel and transfers are not included.
| Cruise in the package | Booked separately | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Inside the package total; ask what it is worth | Public price, “from” |
| Waterway and product | Ask | Named |
| Duration and boarding point | Ask | Usually stated |
| Vegetarian or Jain | Ask | Ask; Jain is not stated on any product we read |
| Child and infant price | Package rule | Operator rule |
| Transfers | Ask: shared, private or none | Product option |
| Cancellation | Package terms | Operator or platform terms |
| Swapping or skipping | Ask whether the package allows it | Not applicable |
Before you book a second cruise, ask your seller whether the included one can be swapped, upgraded or removed, and whether removing it lowers the price. We found no package page that said.
Working out the real cost
Compare like with like:
Cost of a separate cruise = cruise price for each person + transfers, if not included + any upper-deck or seating supplement + any drinks you will buy
Then set that against what the package cruise gives you. We cannot put a rupee value on the package cruise unless your seller tells you what it costs within the package. If a separately booked cruise means paying for two cruises, the comparison has to include the one you are not using.
Matching the cruise to your family
| If you are… | Check first |
|---|---|
| A first-time family | The waterway, the cruise length and whether transfers are included |
| With young children | The child price band, the sailing time and the food |
| A Jain family | A written answer on Jain food, before you pay |
| A vegetarian family | Buffet dishes or a meal booked in advance |
| With an infant | Whether an infant can board, where they sit and the life-jacket question |
| With an older parent | The boarding walk, steps and seating; see airport-to-attraction support for wheelchair users and seniors |
| After skyline views | The Marina, and the actual route |
| After the older city | A Creek product |
| Buying a package | The exact product behind the package line |
| Watching the budget | The total for the family, not the ticket price |
| Prone to seasickness | The boat type, the deck and the cruise length |
Getting to the jetty
The boarding point is the detail most worth checking; the comparison table above shows how it varies by waterway.
Before the day, get:
- the exact boarding point from your voucher;
- the reporting time;
- whether pickup is included, and whether it is shared or private;
- the pickup time.
Rayna’s optional pickup covers “centrally located hotels and residences” in named areas. Arabian Adventures charges extra for pickups from Sharjah and Ajman on Tour Dubai’s product.
If you are making your own way, taking a cab with a small child means Dubai’s child-restraint rule for cabs applies. Ask the operator what happens if you are late. Some boats will not wait: Lotus says it sails at 7:30 p.m. “sharp” and that “late passengers will not be able to board”.
Bedtime, heat and a queasy child
Bedtime. A 6 p.m. Canal sailing and a 9 p.m. Creek sailing are different evenings for a 4-year-old. Count the hours from pickup to drop-off, not the cruise length. For one way to fit it in, see an itinerary that offers a Marina dinner cruise on Day 4.
Heat. Several boats we read about have an air-conditioned lower deck and an open upper deck. In the hotter months, check Dubai’s monthly temperatures for families before you choose a deck.
Seasickness. Boats move, and some people feel it. If someone in your family is prone to it, ask about seating near the middle of the boat and on the lower deck, choose a shorter sailing, and eat lightly. This is general advice, not a medical note.
Mistakes that spoil the evening
- Assuming every “dhow cruise” is the same. The waterway, boat and length all differ.
- Not asking which waterway. Some package lines leave it open.
- Assuming vegetarian means Jain. No product we read mentions Jain food.
- Assuming one child price. Bands run 3 to 10, 3 to 11 or 3+, depending on the operator.
- Not checking infant rules. One Creek listing does not permit children under 5.
- Assuming two hours. Cruises run from 90 minutes to three hours, before transfers.
- Not checking the boarding point. It can be on either bank of the Creek, or one of several Marina piers.
- Assuming hotel pickup. On several products it is optional or not offered.
- Assuming drinks are included. Soft drinks are included on some products; alcohol is usually extra where it is offered.
- Expecting an Indian buffet. Most menus are “international”.
- Requesting a special meal on the boat. Tour Dubai says requests must be made “at the time of booking”.
- Comparing ticket prices only. Add transfers, children and supplements.
- Assuming life jackets without asking. No product we read publishes the arrangement.
What people ask about the cruise line
Is a dhow cruise included in most Dubai packages from India?
It is a common inclusion. The line rarely says which cruise.
Is the Marina or the Creek better for families?
Neither, as a rule. Compare the cruise length, sailing time, food, child price and boarding point for the product you would actually get.
Is Jain food available on Dubai dhow cruises?
None of the 15 products we read mentions it. Ask before paying, and get the answer in writing.
Is vegetarian food available?
On Rayna’s Marina and Creek cruises, as dishes in a mixed buffet, and on Rustar’s dinner. On Tour Dubai’s Creek cruise, a vegetarian meal must be requested when you book. Most of the products we read do not say.
Do children need a separate ticket?
Usually, from age 3. Child bands run to 10 or 11 depending on the operator.
Do infants need a ticket?
On the products that publish it, under-3s are free. One Creek listing, Bateaux Dubai’s (out of stock on Oct. 1, 2026), does not permit children under 5.
How long is a dhow dinner cruise?
The products we read run 90 minutes, two hours, two and a half hours or three hours. With reporting and transfers, plan for at least three and a half hours out: Rayna’s Marina product on Musement runs from a 7 p.m. pickup to a 10:30 p.m. drop-off.
Are life jackets available for children?
No operator we read publishes this. Ask the operator directly, including about child sizes.
Does a Dubai package include pickup for the cruise?
Some say “SIC”, generally read as a shared coach transfer, but no page we read defined it. Ask your seller to confirm.
Can I skip the package cruise and book another?
That depends on your package’s terms. Ask whether it can be swapped or removed, and whether that changes the price.
Before you confirm
- Waterway, and the exact product or boat
- Boarding point and reporting time
- Cruise length, and pickup and drop-off times
- Buffet, set menu or a la carte
- Vegetarian arrangement, and whether it must be booked in advance
- Jain food: a written yes or no
- Child age band and price; infant policy and seating
- Child meal, if needed
- Drinks included
- Transfer: shared, private or none
- Deck or seating, and any supplement
- Life jackets in your child’s size
- Cancellation, rescheduling and weather terms
- Whether the package cruise can be swapped or removed
- Entertainment, if it matters to you
If your seller cannot answer one of these, do not assume the answer.
If you would rather send one message. Most of the list fits in a single request to your seller:
Please confirm in writing which cruise is in my package: the waterway, the operator and boat, the boarding point and reporting time, the cruise length, and whether the transfer is shared, private or not included. Please also tell me how vegetarian food is provided, whether a Jain meal is possible, what my children and my infant pay, and whether life jackets in my child’s size are on board.
Buying a package from India? We sell Dubai packages too, including Dubai trips starting from Bengaluru and Hyderabad departures for Dubai. If one of them includes a cruise, ask us the same questions about it: which waterway, which boat, what the food is and what your children pay. If we cannot tell you, compare.
